Our XL Pitbull Dogs (also known as XL American Bullies) mature to anywhere from 90 lbs up to 180 lbs, depending on the bloodlines and the parents we are breeding. They mature to anywhere from 19 inches tall up to 23 or more inches tall, and once again this depends on the parents (the sire & dam) bloodlines. We choose breeding pairs whom complement one another in size, conformation, temperament, disposition, head size, intelligence, and so on. Aggression/viciousness/instability are genetic/hereditary traits, and BBK never breeds aggressive, unstable, or vicious dogs – period! This being said, we produce dogs with all the big and beautiful qualities of an XL, including excellent temperament and mental disposition. We have done tons of research (both hands on and reading) on our bloodlines including evaluations on our own dogs. We produce quality, family oriented companions and show prospects. This is what we have put the time in to produce, and this is what we want to be known for.

History of the XL Pitbull Dogs

Historically, the first kennel to really get this dogs known and breed to the now XL standard is ICK (Iron Cross Kennels). While they are not really known as a bloodline per-say, they did get these larger dogs popular – especially dogs like ICK Disciple, ICK Stalefish, ICK Morran, ICK Tyson, and ICK Iron Maiden, and ICK Azul. In their peak time of popularity, these dogs were dubbed the nickname XL Pitbull Dogs or XXL Pitbulls. These dogs are foundation for many XL Pitbull breeders such as BBK. Later on, the ABKC (American Bully Kennel Club) recognized these dogs as XL American Bullies. These dogs have come a long way since the days of ICK, where they were dogs were being produced around 110 lbs to 125 lbs. Now these dogs are bred to be much thicker, much wider, more head, and way more chest. Bulkier examples of the “classic XL.”

XL Bullies are Big Dogs and go for Big Prices

The reason why these Bully dogs go for higher prices than your normal Pitbull is because of the sheer size of these dogs. Not many people have the bloodlines needed to produce these beasts. And now that these lines are popular, they are getting harder and harder to come by. Many Pitbull breeders such as BBK has had to rely on straws (preserved semen) from these legends. It takes many, many years of breeding (with all of it’s ups and downs) to create a quality bloodline, and many more years and many more years to incorporate other great dogs and bloodlines into mix. These things alone are the reasons for the price tags on these dogs. One never truly realizes what goes into breeding quality bloodlines and creating a new bloodline (our own) until they set out to do it themselves. It’s not cheap, it’s not quick, and it’s not without failing a few times. But – failure brings perfection!
